Week 4 and we’re already a little past halfway through the competition. Is it time to pull out the calculator to see who’s going to qualify? Meanwhile, we have some curiosities of the week.

  • A total of 15 matches, 75 duels and 176 carcassonne games were played. The match between Greece and Peru did not take place because the Peruvian team did not submit their line-up, so Greece won 5-0.
  • Of the 75 duels, 49 finished in two games and 26 went to the third game.
  • Of the 176 games, 2 ended in draws and 3 games were lost on time.
  • It is the first time that Japan loses 2 matches during a WTCOC-edition.
  • 37 players have played all 4 rounds this year.
  • Of those 37 players, only 3 players managed to win all of their duels. Congrats to Mars15 (Rom), manarori (Mex) and Mikhail-rus (Rcp). Imagine starting a Fantasy 5 team with only players whose names start with the letter M.
  • Only 4 teams have won all their duels so far. One in each group.
  • 4 teams still need to secure their first win.
  • The team with the most duels won so far is Romania (17). They have only lost 3 duels. And they are in the heavy group A …remarkable.
  • The team with the most games won is shared between Romania and RCP (36). RCP is doing slightly better, however, by having only lost 15 games (Rom: 16)
  • 2 teams have had 3 draws so far: Taiwan and Belgium. Taiwan won them all, Belgium lost them all.
  • During the second half of week 4, the team Elo of 17 teams increased while it decreased for 14 teams. China remains in the lead with a team Elo of 617, but Argentina showed the largest gain (13 points).
  • 5 individual Carcassonne World Champions are participating in this WTCOC, together they are good for 8 World titles.
  • Funny enough, 4 World Champions (Navarre79, Moya88, Mars15 & g3rappa) are gathered in group A, creating the possibility of 3 duels between champions. Only RCP-player Someone_you_know escaped this cluster of high tense games.
  • Funny enough part 2: Navarre79 (Ger) indeed encountered former World Champions Moya88 (Cze) and g3rappa (Rom) in Rounds 2 & 4, so we predict that in Round 6 Moya88 will encounter either g3rappa or Mars15 from Romania.
  • If we take the World Team titles in account (3x Japan), we are adding 6 more Champions (snow_island, Kithara, should, 80RThiA, yanocchi41_TRAPS & piro283/_piro_) and 8 more titles to that total. Of course Japan is also in group…you guessed it… A 😀. This creates a total possibility of 7 duels (two in JPN vs ROM) between Champions. And of course it already happened in the duel between Japan and Romania (should vs Mars15).

  • Moya88 (Cze) scored a 13 point road at table #374753903 on turn 90. Alehrosario (Arg) and crocodilefundy (USA) also scored a 13 point road (jointly) at table #374793673 on turn 93.
  • Alfamar (Esp) and Jackface (UK) jointly scored a 36 point city at table #374836291 on turn 109
  • Kithara (Jap) and IMD5 (Mex) jointly scored a 30 point field scored at table #374589690 on turn 139
  • Someone_you_know (RCP) scored a total of 44 monastery points at table #373797249, with 4 complete monasteries and 1 incomplete monastery. Let’s see if another RCP player wins the monastery record next week!

Semana 4 y ya ha transcurrido un poco de la mitad de la competención. ¿Es hora de sacar la calculadora para ver quién va a calificar? Mientras, tenemos algunas curiosidades de la semana.

  • Se jugaron un total de 15 partidos, 75 duelos y 176 juegos de carcassonne. El partido entre Grecia y Perú no se llevó a cabo porque la selección peruana no envió la alineación, por lo que Grecia ganó 5-0.
  • De los 75 duelos, 49 terminaron en dos juegos y 26 fueron al tercer juego.
  • De los 176 juegos, 2 terminaron en empate y 3 juegos se perdieron por tiempo.
  • Es la primera vez que Japón pierde 2 partidos durante una edición del WTCOC.

  • Curiosamente parte 2. Navarre79 (Alemania) de hecho se enfrentó a los ex campeones mundiales Moya88 (Cze) y g3rappa (Rom) en las Rondas 2 y 4, por lo que predecimos que en la Ronda 6 Moya88 se encontrará con g3rappa o Mars15 de Rumania.
  • Si tomamos en cuenta los títulos del Equipo Mundial (3x Japón), estamos agregando 6 campeones más (snow_island, Kithara, should, 80RThiA, yanocchi41_TRAPS y piro283/_piro_) y 8 títulos más a ese total.
