    • LaHache (Fra) and squallus (Fra) are the only other players to log more than 4 hours of thinking time (4:32:09 and 4:24:24 hr:min:sec, respectively)

Elo Curiosities

  • Lower Elo players won 500 / 1223 games (40.9% chance of winning)
  • Higher Elo players won 723 / 1223 games (59.1% chance of winning)
  • (excluding draws, binomial test, p < 0.000001)
  • A more robust evaluation of how Elo influences the outcome of a game can be revealed using linear regression analysis. The differences in points scored by two players during a game is significantly and positively correlated with their Elo differences. The score difference between two opponents is the same, but positive for the winner and negative for the loser. Similarly, the Elo difference is also the same but positive for the higher Elo player and negative for the lower Elo player. Because the differences between two opponents always have the same magnitude but opposite signs, it would be redundant to include two points per game. Therefore one point per game was randomly chosen to be included in the linear regression analysis illustrated in the plot below.
